The Flamborough Soccer Club has been proudly offering the children of our community the opportunity to participate in organized sports for many years. Our club is a not-for-profit organization which is run by volunteers taking on duties ranging from Executive and Committee members to Convenors and Coaches. With an average annual registration of nearly 2000 players we are always happy to accept the assistance of new volunteers!
Within our club we offer a choice of House League, Developmental and Representative Programs for players to participate in. Our House League program is open to all players starting with an under 5 division right up to Men’s and Women’s leagues. House League players participate in one weekly scheduled game and typically one practice with the season running from mid-May through to late-August. They participate in Cup Play-Off rounds and end their season with House League Cup Finals and a Picnic Day for all participants to celebrate their season. Standings for the season are maintained through our convenors from ages U7 and up and can be viewed on our website once the season begins. The Club also hosts a Photo Day at which time all players have both an individual and team photo taken to help them remember their experience for years to come. The focus of our House League program is to promote sportsmanship and team spirit and to truly encourage a love of sport for years to come.
Our Developmental Program is open to any player interested in developing a higher skill set with a movement toward more competitive play. This is a multi-jurisdictional (or MJ) league which operates in conjunction with the Hamilton and District Multi-jurisdictional Club League and introduces players to a higher level of skill development. These teams, beginning at U9, typically compete in one weekly game within the greater Hamilton District, 1-2 practices weekly as well as weekend tournaments and play-off rounds.
Teams playing at the Rep. Level are competitive teams representative of the Flamborough Soccer Club within the South Region Soccer League (or SRSL). Players interested in this program will attend try-out sessions each fall and are committed to additional weekly training sessions and development including off-season training, weekend tournaments, weekly games within the greater southern Ontario region, as well as Play-off and Cup rounds.
For more detailed information on any of our programs we encourage you to check out the various descriptions available on our website. You will find details including coaches contact information, game days, field maps and standings under any of the House League, Rep. or MJ Select tabs.
There has been much discussion on what type of service provider the FSC wants to be. Much of the discussions have been initiated by segments of the organization that may favor one area (Competitive) versus another. The needs and requirements tend to be quite different for different segments of our users and the discussions and concerns have been both valid and thought provoking.
The ideal solution is for the Club to provide a service for all segments of our community and users. This would include House League for the recreational enjoyment of the game. All-Star to provide the better house league players the opportunity to compete against similar teams from other clubs…Competitive to provide the highest level of competition and development for our best players to represent our Club and Community…Adult soccer to provide an opportunity for players that have completed the journey through the system to continue playing and enjoying the sport.
This is a strategy that is easily stated but difficult to execute. Currently the FSC does provide a service to all, with the exception of Senior Men’s (over 23 years of age).
A significant requirement and foundation to such a Club is a development program focused on improving, developing and identifying skills at the younger age levels (7 through 10 years of age) to create a process and ‘buzz’ for more competitive levels of soccer (MJ and Rep). This is a program that has recently been approved and supported by the Board as a direction and will not only provide competitive opportunities within the Club, but also create a pool of competitive-level players to support a vibrant competitive program.
The corresponding development program for the Coaches of our Competitive teams is necessary and complementary and the final piece of the puzzle is facilities, in particular fields.
